While discussing some of my favorite sources for information about church communications technology with Rex Hammock, I came up with this list based on my iGoogle church tech tab and Twitter feed. Thought I’d share it with you guys and then ask you what I should add to the list.
- www.happywebdiva.com and www.faithandweb.com/ (especially since the author, Anna Belle Leiserson, is a Nashvillean (Nashvillager? Nashvillite?) like Rex
- ChurchCrunch.com
- Church Marketing Lab (Flickr) by @holycowcreative
- ChurchMarketingSucks.com
- MediaSalt.com
- I also added that while this would’ve been cooler if Twitter Search cached its tweets longer, my diocese was running updates from #WorkCamp, an annual program where teens go to rural, dirt poor areas of Virginia for a week to help repair dilapidated housing.
- Theology on Tap — priests go to local bars to give talks on spiritual topics; talks are recorded and available on iTunes. Attracts big crowds surprisingly.
- @stcharleschurch (the Twitter account I run for my church)
[Update: July 20, 2009 — OpenSourceCatholic.com looks like it’s going to turn into another great source. Check it out.]
[Update: October 3, 2009 — ProductiveCatholic.com “is designed to give Catholics tools and ideas on how to optimize their time and money in order to focus on their life’s purpose: to worship God and help others.” Try out the site, get fired up and make a difference.]
I’d like to build out this list. What are your go-to sources for finding inspiration about churches using communications technology in bold ways?
Your list was extremely helpful, Mark. Thanks for the suggestions.
My pleasure. Hope your presentation went well.
Thanks for the Open Source Catholic.com shoutout! I’ll be adding your blog to my RSS reader, and probably giving a nice shout-out soon from OSC.
Jeff — thanks for adding me to your reader. With all the blogs out there, it’s an honor. I found you through @catholicmeme on Twitter I believe. Keep up the good work and I hope the new hosting works out for you.
Awesome. Simply awesome. I love your blog. It’s going in my blogroll. We need more blogs like yours, OSC, and Catholic Tech Tips. Guys like you are spearheading the call to new evangelism. Great stuff.
Dean — great work on ProductiveCatholic.com. Your enthusiasm shines through in your writing and you’ve got some great content. After going through my browser history to see how I found your blog, I think it was from looking to see who @OSCatholic was following on Twitter.
